GUIRLANDE
(brim up pattern)

If you like Chevrefeuille, but don’t want to knit top down, you may knit Guirlande. The basic idea is the same. But the loops are hanging down on this hat (like a garland, a guirlande in French). And there is no star crown on top.

Brim

With MC, CO 68 sts. Divide sts over 3 dpn’s and join in the round, being careful not to twist.  Place m to mark beginning of row

Round 1 –  8: k2, p2 till end.

Round 9: k33, kfb, k33, kfb (70 sts)

Body of hat

Change to CC

Row 1: k3, k2tog, yo, k1, yo, ssk, k2, repeat till end;

Row 2: knit

Row 3: k2, k2tog, yo, k3, yo, ssk, k1, repeat till end;

Row 4: knit

Row 5: k1, k2tog, yo, k5, yo, ssk, k1, repeat till end

Change to MC

Row 6: knit

Change to CC2

Row 7: *k5, RLH, k1, LLH, k4, repeat till end.

Row 8: k5, ktog 3 loops, 1 st and 3 loops through back loop, k4, repeat till end

Break yarn, thread yarn trough remaining sts, pull tight and secure.

Weave in loose ends.
